Australia’s premiere country and roots festival, CMC ROCKS QLD, today reveals an epic artist lineup for it’s 2018 event, which is set to return to Willowbank, Ipswich from Thursday 15* – Sunday 18 March.

The most anticipated event on the country music calendar, and following this year’s phenomenal sell-out 10th Anniversary event, CMC Rocks once again delivers a second-to-none line-up jam-packed with the biggest and best local and international artists the genre has to offer.

Two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year and country music megastar LUKE BRYAN leads the charge, making his Australian debut at CMC Rocks QLD 2018 to overwhelming demand. He’s sold over 10 million albums, 40 million tracks worldwide and has chalked up 3 billion streams, and with current single ‘Light It Up’ currently making waves at country radio worldwide, Luke is a bonafide superstar. Luke has just been confirmed as a judge on the new season of ABC’s American Idol, he performed the US National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl and consistently sells out stadiums across the US, from Chicago’s Soldier Field to Cleveland’s First Energy Stadium, performing to over 5.6 million fans over the last three years. Known for his explosive live performances, Willowbank better prepare to see Luke blow up the CMC Rocks Main Stage next year!

Multiple Grammy Award-winner, DARIUS RUCKER, will land in Willowbank for his first ever-Australian performance at CMC Rocks QLD 2018. With eight #1 Billboard Country Singles under his belt, including ‘Homegrown Honey’, co-written with label-mate Charles Kelley (Lady Antebellum), and ‘If I Told You’, the lead single from his forthcoming fifth studio album out October 20, Rucker (former lead singer with Hootie & The Blowfish) will have some fresh new cuts to unleash on CMC Rocks audiences when he lands down under in March.

Country’s hottest female artist KELSEA BALLERINI returns to the CMC Rocks stage a fully fledged star, last year creating history as the first ever female artist to achieve three consecutive #1 US Billboard hits with ‘Love Me Like You Mean It’, ‘Peter Pan’ and ‘Dibs’. Since then, she has sold out two national headline tours across North America as well as her own headline shows in the UK, garnered a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, supported the likes of Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum, Thomas Rhett and Carrie Underwood, and has performed live on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. With a brand new album Unapologetically due for release next month, Kelsea is one of the most exciting artists on the world music stage.

Fresh from supporting Sir Elton John on his recent Australian dates, Rockhampton duo BUSBY MAROU are well-versed on the live stage and are one of Australia’s best-loved roots acts, making their CMC festival debut in 2010. Cutting their teeth gigging around QLD before nabbing support slots for Dolly Parton and James Blunt, they now have an APRA Award for Blues & Roots Work of the Year, and an ARIA chart-topping album, Postcards from The Shell House, to their name.

Joining Luke Bryan (USA), Darius Rucker (USA), Kelsea Ballerini (USA) and Busby Marou on the A List line-up for 2018 are Dustin Lynch (USA) and Randy Houser (USA), who have both opened for Luke Bryan across North America, along with Old Dominion (USA), Dan + Shay (USA), Dean Brody (CAN), Brett Young (USA), Brothers Osborne (USA), Luke Combs (USA), Gord Bamford (CAN), Steve Forde, Travis Collins, The Sunny Cowgirls,  Russell Dickerson (USA), Ryan Follese (USA), Davisson Brothers Band (USA) and High Valley (CAN).

A dazzlling array of local favourites and rising stars join the fold, from Troy Kemp, Jody Direen (NZ), Christie Lamb, Kaylee Bell (NZ), Melanie Dyer, Missy Lancaster, Baylou, Mustered Courage, The Viper Creek Band, Jayne Denham, Casey Barnes, Route 33 and Rachael Fahim.

CMC Rocks will be the only chance for Queenslanders to catch these sensational international artists live in action in 2018!

CMC Rocks QLD returns with an extended festival program due to overwhelming demand and exclusively for campers in 2018, with the Jack Daniel’s White Rabbit Saloon hosting live music from 1pm on Thursday 15 March right through to 2am the next morning. On Friday 16 March, performers will kick off at 10:15am with gates opening at 9:15am, providing more live music action than ever before!

With huge demand for on-site camping each year, event organisers have secured an additional paddock ** for 2018.

Completely selling out for the past two consecutive years, the festival attracts crowds of more than 15,000 music lovers daily, coming from as far as North America, Sweden, Singapore, Germany, Austria and a big contingent from New Zealand, injecting more than $6.1 million into the local Ipswich economy.

The southern hemisphere’s biggest country and roots event, CMC Rocks has over the years hosted world-class sets from international music icons like Tim McGraw, Toby Keith and Alan Jackson to Lady Antebellum, Faith Hill, Taylor Swift, Dixie Chicks and Little Big Town. Complemented each year by an array of Australia’s most prolific stars and exciting up-and-comers, including Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers, Morgan Evans, Caitlyn Shadbolt and more, CMC Rocks never fails to deliver the very best of country music to local music fans.

The Queensland Government is proud to support CMC Rocks QLD through Tourism and Events Queensland as part of the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar, showcasing Australia’s best live events in Australia’s best destinations.

2017 Deni Ute Muster wrap up

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

The 19th Deni Ute Muster, the original Australian country life themed music festival, was held this weekend in Deniliquin in southern NSW.

Over 15,500 people converged on the Riverina town for two days of family entertainment and ute focused activities together with a who’s who of Australian country music.

The music got under way on Friday with Jetty Road and Hurricane Fall followed by one of Australia’s most loved singer-songwriters, Sara Storer. The Davidson Brothers, one of Australia’s hottest bluegrass acts, were up next followed by Beccy Cole and her band playing all of her hits, interspersed with her trademark cheeky repartee with the crowd.

James Blundell and Brewn took the stage before the man in the black hat, Lee Kernaghan, closed out Friday night with an almost two hour set that had the whole arena singing along.

Saturday afternoon saw the arena filled yellow and black and red, gold and navy to watch a nail biting AFL Grand Final with Richmond fans screaming for joy as the team broke their 37-year drought.  After the game, the music once again began as the sun set with the Adam Eckersley Band and rising country star Caitlyn Shadbolt before The McClymonts set the stage alight.

Drew McAlister and crowd favourite, Shannon Noll, were up next before The Wolfe Brothers closed the weekend with a bang.

The Deni Ute Muster is a celebration of contemporary Australian rural life where the ute is king. The Deni Ute Muster isn’t just about the music – it’s an all Aussie extravaganza including wood chopping and whip cracking demonstrations, Coates Hire Show ‘n Shine, Noah’s Thoroughbred Racing Pigs, the Bull Ride Spectacular, the Brophy Bros Circus, Matt Falloon and His Trained Balloons, Matt Mingay and Madzy Evel’s Off Road Show, the Reptile Awareness Display, camel rides and Circlework, Barrel Race and Go to Wo competitions all on the entertainment menu.

This year’s Tradie Challenge was won by Melbourne’s Brad Rossetto and Paul Riley taking out first prize and a cool, $1,000 cash for their clock.

With temperatures in the low 20’s and the sun out all weekend, there was plenty of reminiscing about last year’s #MuddyMuster which saw the cancellation of the world record ute count, and barely a puddle in sight. The Ute Count was back this year with 6,313 utes confirmed on site.

The world record blue singlet attempt fell short, but still impressive, with 1,941 musterers of all ages gathered for the count. The GME Australian National Circle Work Championships saw Stanhope’s Zac Turner take first prize in his 2004 Ford Falcon XR8 with New South Welshmen Ryan White and Robert Welch taking 2nd and 3rd prizes.

The Go to Wo was won by Benjamin Gehan from Stawell in Victoria with Karlia Woods from Dungog in NSW coming in 2nd. 1st and 2nd places in the Barrel Race were taken by Bob Waldner from Lavington in NSW and Josh Turnbull from Wedderburn respectively. The Coates Hire Show ‘n Shine Ute of the Year, and the $4,000 prize money, was awarded to Darryl Miles from Gledswood Hills in NSW for his 1978 Holden HZ 1 Tonner.

Deni Ute Muster General Manager, Vicky Lowry, said “Before we knew it our 19th year of celebrating the Deni Ute Muster was over. Each year memories are created, for me 2017 was the year that the crowd both young and old dressed in their blue singlets at front of main stage joined in true Aussie spirit singing Waltzing Matilda and Advance Australia Fair. To our loyal and new Muster patrons, thank you for making this another successful year. See you all in 2018 for our 20th year!”

“I’d also like to acknowledge our Strategic Partner, Destination NSW, our Event Partners, Edward River Council and our major sponsors Bundaberg, Decentralised Demountables, Deniliquin Freighters, Purtills, IGA and Lion.  It’s thanks to their continued support, as well as our friends at Isuzu and Sunrice, that we’re able to grow the event each year”.

The 2017 Deni Ute Muster was proudly supported by the NSW Governmentthrough its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

Deni Ute Muster announces 2017 line up

It feels like we have been waiting a long time for this announcement. But the day has finally arrived. Organisers of the 2017 Deni Ute Muster have announced the artists to be playing over the weekend:

However this is one festival where it’s a lot more than music with entertainment options high! Organisers say they will also be announcing the day stage artists and entertainment schedule soon. A top bucket list event in Australia with around 18,000 patrons flocking to Deniliquin in southern New South Wales each long weekend. The Festival will be held September the 29th-30th.

Tickets are now on sale!

For 19 years the iconic Deni Ute Muster has been the Labour Day long weekend destination of choice for ute and music enthusiasts and 2017 is set to deliver its biggest main stage line up ever for a mega weekend of fun, music, mateship and, of course, utes. Thanks to the AFL Grand Final Friday holiday, our Victorian friends get to join the fun with their own long weekend too.

What do you think of this line up????

Personally, I am a little disappointed with the line up. After pulling Keith Urban last year, the expectations to bring out one USA headliner was high!

Leave me a comment below, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Ambassador Named:

At the Gympie Show last week, The Muster announced Travis Collins as the 2017 Gympie Music Muster Ambassador! It has been a big hear already for Travis who won 3 of the top Golden Guitar awards at Tamworth Music Festival in January and then another 3 at the CMC Awards prior to the CMC Rocks Festival.

“I’ve seen all sides of the Muster, from many years camping with family, to performing on main stage, having a rum with mates in the legendary Crow Bar, or grabbing a new pair of boots at one of the many onsite shops,”  he said.  “I still don’t know what element I love most about the Muster… It’s just that kind of magic place and iconic event that offers an experience like no other. From the full electric buzz of mind-blowing Aussie entertainment each day and night, to the silent calm and eerie stillness of morning and native bird calls waking the campers, and setting up camp beside strangers on day one but leaving as lifelong mates come day five… catching up with them the following year… and the year after that.”

With many Australian country music fans upset the Gympie Muster hasn’t succumbed to the demand for large international acts. There are still a respectable number of loyal festival-goers who rock up every year, weeks in advance to set up camp. Most probably next to the same crowd as the year before. Excited to meet new people and celebrate another year of Aussie Country and all that entails.

I remember heading to this festival 25 years ago and recently just started taking my kids! While the drop to the low 10s at night is not the most appealing aspect of the festival. The music, people and atmosphere more then makes up for it!

So in order to catch me at the festival, head over and grab yourself some tickets

Big Red Bash 2017

Australia’s The world’s most remote music festival is back this year with an amazing line up! While unfortunately original headliner Jessica Mauboy has had to pull out, organisers have replaced her with nine time ARIA Winner and music legend Missy Higgins.
